Statement of Faith
We believe the following:
The Word of God. The Bible is the inspired word
of God, true in all that it claims to be true, without error in
the original manuscripts. It is our final standard of faith and
practice.
The Trinity. There is one living and true God
who is infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in his being, wisdom,
power, holiness, justice, goodness, loyal love and truth who is
one in essence, but eternally existent in three persons, the Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit, each having precisely the same nature, attributes,
and perfections, and each worthy of precisely the same worship,
confidence, and obedience..
Jesus Christ. We believe in the deity of our
Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in
His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed
blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right
hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal
and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men.
He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them,
continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth and
seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power and
control are appropriated in the believer's life by faith.
Mankind. We believe that mankind was were created
in the image of God as creatures with free will and given power
and authority over God's creation. We believe that all people are,
by nature, separated from God and responsible for their own sin,
but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered
to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents
of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, trusting
Him to save them, that person has been born again and sealed by
the Holy Spirit, that person's sins are forgiven, and that person
is an adopted child of God, destined to spend eternity with the
Lord.
The Church. Christ's Universal Church is composed
of all such persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ have
been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the
Body of Christ of which He is the Head.
We believe that local Christian churches, each of which is composed
of members of Christ's Universal Church, can best promote the cause
of Jesus Christ by cooperating with one another, supporting each
other, aiding each other and fellowshipping together.
Christian Conduct. We believe a Christian should
live for the glory of God and the well being of his fellowmen; that
his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should
be a faithful steward of his possessions; and that he should seek
to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in
Christ.
The Ordinances. We believe the ordinances given to the local
church are two, baptism and the Lord's supper: that baptism is by
immersion of believers, thus portraying the death, burial, and the
resurrection of Jesus Christ; that the Lord's Supper is the partaking
of the bread and cup by the believer as a continuing memorial of
the broken body and shed blood of Christ.
The Last Things. We believe in the personal and
visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to Earth and the establishment
of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the
final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous and the endless
suffering of the wicked.
